Who is it for?

The Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid Course is ideal for those who work in settings that require both first aiders and paediatric first aiders, such as schools, sports clubs or other childcare settings.

Combining the First Aid at Work and the Paediatric First Aid enables learners to gain the skills and knowledge needed to provide both adult and paediatric first aid, whilst minimising the number of training days required to achieve both qualifications.

Learners will cover a range of topics needed to provide effective first aid for adults, children and infants including CPR and defibrillation, choking, stroke, head injuries, asthma and much more, enabling them to be a workplace First-Aider under the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981, and a Paediatric First-Aider under the requirements of The Early Years Foundation Stage.

This course is offered on a blended basis, enabling the theory to be completed online prior to attending a 1 day face to face training session to complete the practical learning and assessments.

  • Assessing an incident, incident reporting & casualty assessment

  • Managing an unresponsive casualty

  • Recovery position, CPR & defibrillation

  • Heart Attack, angina & stroke

  • Choking & poisoning

  • Epilepsy, asthma, meningitis & diabetes

  • Anaphylaxis, shock & electric shock

  • Seizures & febrile convulsions

  • Head, neck, chest & spinal injuries

  • Wounds, bleeding & hypovolaemic shock

  • Fractures, sprains, strains & dislocations

  • Minor injuries, burns & scalds

  • Eye, nose & ear injuries

  • Hypoxia & hyperventilation
